Atlanta United

CBS Interactive

ROLE: EDITORIAL CONTENT / WEB DESIGN

My career took a little bit of an unexpected deviation when I joined Atlanta United. Early on, I learned the team didn't have a team writer or a club reporter. The club was primarily posting press releases to the website and didn't have any form of editorial strategy. So, I found myself jumping in, using the reporting skills that I learned at Medill and writing more pieces to post to the club's official website.

The result has been positive in several ways. First, we've revived storytelling as a key value of our digital content. We partner with video to interview players and tell their stories. Creating more original content has also helped us increase our SEO. Atlanta United, an already recognizable brand in Major League Soccer, continues to grow into a destination website for our fans.
